Work-Environment Monitoring
This application is used to monitor the maximum workplace concentration (MAK) for installed gas sensors. This is done by monitoring the work area for flammable and toxic gases.
During operation of the device in this application, the operational readiness is indicated by an acoustic signal. In TRGS 900 (Technical Rules for Hazardous Substances, Occupational Exposure Limits), the corresponding values for the MAK are specified for hazardous substances.
The Technical Rules for Hazardous Substances (TRGS) reflect the state of the art, occupational medicine and industrial hygiene as well as other reliable scientific knowledge for activities with hazardous substances, including their classification and labeling. They are drawn up by the Committee for Hazardous Substances (AGS) and adapted accordingly to developments. The TRGS are published by the Federal Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs (BMAS) in the Joint Ministerial Gazette (GMBl).
This is also regulated in the rules of DVGW G465-4 Appendix A. Particularly in the area of biogas plants and their environment, certain gases and their working gap limit values (AGW) are of particular importance. When inspecting house connections, it is also necessary to be able to measure the CO concentration, for example in a boiler room, in order to minimize danger to life and limb.
Gas type | Workplace limit values (AGW) |
---|---|
H2S Hydrogen sulfide | 5 ppm |
CO Carbon monoxide | 30 ppm |
CO2 Carbon dioxide | 5.000 ppm |
You can monitor these values with the following devices from Schütz Messtechnik:
